The most important thing to know about writing thank you notes is to hand-write them! No computer-generated “thank you’s!” Your note should be personalized, writing a few words about the gift received. If you have a large wedding, hand-writing a hundred cards for the reception gifts, let alone any shower gifts, may seem like a daunting task. To help, I recommend writing thank you notes as soon as you receive the gift, even if it’s before the wedding. Find your invitation list and record the gift next to the guest’s name, checking off the name once your note has been sent. Take 3-5 to work with you each day, and write them during your lunch break. Have your fiancé or new husband chip in and write the notes to his family members and friends. It’s not too much to ask….it was his wedding, too!
